The problem with speaking English instead of using made-up words is that we assume our pets know what we mean. We say, “Sit” and expect Fido to drop his derriere, but the command Fido’s learned is “sit, sit, sit, SIT!”
It’s kitty season – meaning, as usual, there are tons of pregnant female cats and young kittens being relinquished to shelters. Most will ultimately be euthanized but some will be fostered and find good homes.
America is a democracy, but the American family is not. It’s a dictatorship. One youngster explained to me, “In this house, the dogs are the lowest. Next are the kids, then the parents and the cats are on top.”
I have a 10 yr. old fixed Standard Poodle who gets very excited when he greets another dog and he ends up mounting the other dog. Male, female big dog small dog doesn’t matter. I would just like to know why he does this, and how can I stop it. Thanks for your time.
